Risaia del Duca’s mission is rooted in acting sustainably.
In the first quarter of 2023, the farm adopted a new business model as a Benefit Corporation, based on the principles of environmental sustainability, inclusion, and social ethics, aiming for conscious economic growth while reducing waste, resource consumption, and pollution.
Environment
Every activity we undertake is carried out with respect for the environment in all its dimensions—water, soil, and air—through systems, technologies, and practices that enhance the sustainability of our farm. We are committed to progressively evolving our business model towards a net-zero greenhouse gas economy, in line with European climate neutrality goals and national ecological transition objectives.
Animal Welfare
We are committed to ensuring animal welfare by following an innovative and eco-sustainable herd management model. We feed, care for, and raise our animals in a comfortable environment designed to improve their health, longevity, and productivity.
Community
We transfer knowledge and best practices by taking concrete actions to enhance the local territory. We invest in young people by creating educational programmes to develop a new business model based on the principles of sustainability, inclusion, and social ethics.
ESG Challenges for Risaia del Duca
Risaia del Duca is actively committed to pursuing sustainable growth,

In particular, the company contributes to SDGs 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, and 15, which focus on zero hunger, clean and affordable energy, climate action, and life on land. This commitment is reflected in the adoption of practices that promote energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy, and the protection of natural resources and the environment.
For SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, Risaia del Duca is committed to producing high-quality feed, with a particular focus on animal welfare and low environmental impact farming techniques.
At Risaia del Duca, we are committed to reducing atmospheric emissions and the use of crop protection products. We promote sustainable farming practices that safeguard the health of our workers and local communities
Regarding SDG 7 – Clean and Affordable Energy, the company promotes the use of renewable energy and has already achieved 62% of its electricity from alternative sources (biogas).
We teach young people who aspire to become agricultural entrepreneurs how to run a business sustainably. We provide training and resources to create decent and lasting employment opportunities while supporting local economic development.
We study how to introduce innovative processes into daily activities in the barn and in the field. We invest in research and development to improve agricultural techniques and infrastructure in collaboration with research institutes and technology partners.
We are committed to optimising resource recovery in support of circular practices. We promote efficient resource use and waste reduction by adopting strategies to minimise environmental impact and support responsible agricultural production.
For SDG 13 – Climate Action, Risaia del Duca has evolved into a Benefit Corporation, pursuing a low greenhouse gas emissions business model and promoting respect for all aspects of the environment.
Finally, for SDG 15 – Life on Earth, the company adheres to circular economy principles and protects natural resources through sustainable practices and a systemic approach that values biological cycles.
